A very sad day

This year, chinese new year has been a very sad one.
fistly, i thought the loss of my handphone was great, but the following morning, it would be even sadder.
On the morning of the 22nd of February, my dog, Leia past away. She was still at the vet's place because she went for spaying, and an x-ray, due to some limping problems. She had an allergy towards some medicine and hyper ventilated.

My family and I went to see her immediately after we got the call from the vet. All of us cried and were overwhelmed, by the loss. She was still warm as we cried and hug her for the last few times.
Today,23rd of February, we will be burying her ashes(after a single cremation) in our garden.

The loss of Leia now makes the whole house seem so empty and quiet. She was the best friend anyone of us could ever have. I hope any of you who knew her, and also those who don't, will say a little prayer for her.

Leia, 26th October 2001---22nd February 2007.

The best dog, friend, and family. We will miss you forever and you will always be in our hearts. We hope we gave you a wonderful life and enjoyed it. We will always pray for you and will never forget you.
May you rest in peace, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

I DEDICATE THIS BLOG TO MY LOVING DOG, FRIEND AND FAMILY,
LEIA.

I'm Back From Kuching!!!!

I'm back in the home, with unlimited Internet connection...hehe.
I'll be talking about my trip and my holidays so far, but since there are quite a lot of things for me to talk, i'll be sub topic-ing it.

A) Kuching(overall) - This time, my trip back to kuching was quite a good one. The weather wasn't too hot and it wasn't congested at all( apart from the coffee shops that we went for breakfast). Even though there wasn't any air-conditioning in my grandmother's house, at night was(and usually) quite cooling, but the stuff there, like the pillows and stuff are exactly the same like last time, old...lolz.

B) Food
- What I'm about to say will totally contradict with whatever i posted earlier. The food there isn't just only about noodles and laksa and kuey chap(sorry, but i dislike this), there are many hidden treasures(cheh...lol). I only ate the noodles(kolok mee...dunno who started the kolok translation) once while i was there. I had mee jawa, which was ok, and fried chicken rice. I had quite a lot of rice and another food which i recommend is the Char Kuay( penang version in char kuay kak...i tink, well thats according 2 my classmate;florence). This is fried with chai poh and egg, very nice!

C) Sights
- This is actually quite funny coz the spelling over here and there is different, and english there is not so good. My last night there, we went to a seafood restaurant to have dinner, and i saw the menu there, one of the items available was LAMP!!! All of us were laughing like crazy. I suppose that their english mustn't be very good or there was a printing error coz they spelt lamb, lamp. Other stuff i saw there i can't remember...sori.
One bad thing about the trip was that, on the way home from the LCCT today, i left my handphone in the taxi...haiz, so sad. I hardly lose stuff outside my house, but just one mistake and its was gone. Hopefully the driver finds it, before any ill-mannered passenger gets in the taxi and takes it, and returns it.
This trip was a nice one as i bought a few new games for my PS2 and i also found a badminton shop near my grandmother's house, but too bad it didn't open during the time i was there. Badminton courts there are crazy. I say that because they usually have around 8 to 16 courts under one roof. The biggest i found was 32 courts, and all of them were on the same floor. Imagine how big that is, and i got to know that 4 of my cousins play badminton as well, and all of them are bigger and taller than me...scary.
Thats about enough for today, and i'll continue with my tour 2moro

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Hi everyone, and especially to my friends, Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai!!!

This year, for chinese new year i'll be goin back to Kuching to celebrate(my family alternate years to go back to either ipoh or kuching).

I'll be leaving on friday at 1 pm( i'll only be attending class until 10...good luck to my classmates with the economics exam...hehe), by air asia.
Many good and bad points about kuching.
GOOD:
1) A lot of ang pau becoz my mum has many siblings and many of my cousins married aledi...hehe.
2) Very big house( my grandmother stays in a bungalow) so very spacious.
3) I'm bringing my PS2, so i won't get too bored.

BAD:
1) Language barrier, all my cousins speak mandarin, broken english. Me and my siblings dun get along with them very well coz can't communicate...haiz, so the other tv is usually monopolised by us with the PS2.
2) Nothing much to do, they don't know how to gamble..who in the right mind doesn't know how to gamble, unlike ipoh...hehe
3) The food there is so different from here, i was so happy i saw chicken rice the last time i went...just imagine eating noodles and noodles and noodles and noodles....
4) I can't bring my racquets over there 2 play badminton(to pass the time) coz i scared it breaks if i check in and scared they say kenot bring on board then haf to leave there, DIE!!!!( haf read many comments and experiences of other people on forums)

I wont be posting anything until wednesday( thats when i come back) becoz got no internet connection( only my cousin's house has...too far).

I'll be posting my food tour when i come back,

and finally Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Food Tour-part 2

Welcome back to the food tour. I'm Chef Dominic, and i will bring you on another journey of foods and smells.

The last tour was about uno pizza and bella italia with their delicious pasta and pizza.
Today, i'm gonna bring you to another 2 of my favourite food stops.

Manhattan Fish Market and T.G.I.F.
i think u all should know where these 2 places are(in subang parade and elsewhere), and how good the food is over there.

Manhattan fish market sells fantastic fish n chips(my specialty, only mine is with mash potato...lolz). The batter they use for the fish is just like the original(from london, gonna talk about that in my final tour). Its puffy and golden brown when deep fried. The choices of fish and the ultimate freshness may not be there but its still fantastic.

The fried squid there may look soggy, and it is when u poke it, but its outstanding! especially with their own tartar sauce, no matter how little it may be, but these 2 go so well and with a squeeze of the lemon, its just perfect. The grilled platter is also great and their, used to have, potato salad was just indescribable. Another plus about the place is also the bottomless refill for soft drinks...hehe.

TGIF is just 1 floor up from where manhattan fish market is.
Once you step in, the atmosphere and ambiance is so comfortable. You sit down, and you'll probably notice the way the table has been placed and the way the fork and knife are set. The decor around the place and the staff are quite unique. The menu has so many items I always want to eat but i can't order it all. So anything else on the menu is great for me.

From the starters they sell, to the desserts available, all of it is just so mouth watering and delicious. I cannot just state on this post my favourite dishes there, but the starter that, i think is to die for, is their potato skins. DELICIOUS!!!Everything there cannot be said in just words, you have to experience it for yourself(if you haven't). I will give it an 8 out of 10 for the whole package of atmosphere to the food.

That about wraps it up for this tour, but stay tune to my next tour where i unveil the top 3 restaurants of my choice in western cuisine.

* My fourth and final tour, i will be talking about the sights and smell about food in LONDON.

Invitational Badminton Tournament!

I'll be hosting a badminton tournament-Phoenix Invitational Tournament. 1st thing 1st, i'm not sponsoring...lol(i'm broke, no ang pau yet).

to those whom i have sent and email too regarding this, i invited. If u have not received any( becoz i still haf 2 slots), pls post your name on this blog.

It will be a round-robin match system, and for those who doesn't know wat it is;

Its preliminary round is basically a group match and the one with the most points of the group will be the winner of the group, and with the 2nd most points is second in the group 2nd position and etc. Only the top 2 from the group will play in the quarterfinals.

There are 4 groups(A,B,C,D) all together and there are 4 in 1 group. Don't think of these as a real tournament, i just wanna haf a reason to play badminton secara "ramai-ramai"...hehe.

No prize...sori... but the winner has bragging rights and by doin this i can make a ranking system(i just haf to much time on my hand).

All this is not gonna happen in one day coz there r gonna be alot of matches and besides, nobody has that much money to play badminton for so long rite...

Points system:
For every point accumulated from your opponent in any game or match, that will be your positive points, and for every points loss to an opponent is your negative points. Once both points are contra-ed off, the one with the highest points in a group is the winner, etc.

pls comment on this and if there are any mistakes or poblems they are deeply regretted and will be chg-ed immediately

*i just have to much time on my hand*
and
dun forget to continue with Chef Dominic on his tour around for the best western food 2moro.

~until next time~

Food Tour by Chef Dominic

Hey to all foodlovers and critics alike.

Today i'm gonna bring to you the best western food around =)
About to get hungry all of sudden?

My 1st stops are Bella Italia and UNO Pizza. these to restaurants are the only available restaurants that sell gr8 pasta and traditional pizza. All the pasta on their menu is excellent, extremely mouth watering and they do not bluff u or anything about how it looks or taste( unlike some restaurants which sell disgusting pasta....Pizza H__, u know which place i'm tokin about).

Their pizza is the traditional italian kind; PERFECTO! And if anyone has been to italy and tasted their food(especially pizza) there, it is almost the same here. 100% exquisite and i give you my word for it. The taste of the pizza in italy is undescribable...right basil...lol. And one thing is tat Bella Italia has so many kinds of pasta and pizza, i haven't finish tryin them all yet.
The chef is gr8...i tink he's from Croatia(well tats wat he said)

One simple recipe to get the best taste out of the pasta and olive oil is called" Aglio Olio"
Both restaurants sell good Olio(in short), but i find many people who only likes their chicken chop and stuff tend to miss out on this gr8 dish.

I think i shall let you try out these restaurants be4 i continue the rest of my tour. I'll continue my tour in 2 days time.

~cya next time~

RECIPE TIME!!!!

This will be my 1st time ever typing down a recipe anywhere.
Its not exactly all written down with the utmost precision, its more of feeling it when cooking(hehe).

The recipe for today is, My award winning(cheh...),
MASH POTATO

  • get as much potato as you can eat.
  • fresh milk
  • butter( the size of a few taylors thumb drive)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • parsley(optional, coz its expensive)

Cut up a potato into 6 or 8 pieces and let them to boil. Cook it until they're soft but still tender(you can test this by poking the potato with a fork while still boiling). Take the potato out and start peelin the skin(its ez-er). Once that is done, take a potato masher and start mashin' away; if you don't have one, a fork will do. Add the milk(preferably hot, but cold milk is ok too) until the mixture is smooth. Add the butter till the potato seems a bit yellower. Add the salt and pepper till it satisfy ur tastebuds and continue to mash the potato. serve and enjoy.

*don't mind me if i missed out any steps...hehe

bye
