1 month in Reading...

..35th day abroad.

..43rd day without playing badminton.

..258 days(or longer) till I reach home.

Went to the Asian store today. It's called Seewoo. It was nicee~
It feels like home, cause you get to see all the stuff that you can get back in Malaysia, and then some. THERE WAS A HUGE PACK OF HAR KAU FOR SALE!!! Not too sure how many there were inside the packet though..but it was selling for £15. =(

The stuff there are slightly more expensive than other Asian stores in London, cause it's the only one around. Monopoly. =(

But it's still alright. Bought some essentials like Hoisin sauce, wanton noodles, thick soy sauce, sesame oil...=D
Gonna start cooking fresh. A bit sick of frozen foods.
Gonna stock up my supply of food from Asda tomorrow.

Nottingham Malaysian Games 2009!
It's been 25 years since it was first started. =)
But I'll probably only get to play in it, in the 26th edition.

Badminton, they only want 1 player. =(
Ngai Chun wants to play. I want to play.
So I let him play cause it is his final year in the UK. =)

But I think it was a good decision, cause I haven't touched my badminton racquet in 43 days. I'm gonna be rusty like hell.
AND...

I GET TO EAT ALL THE MALAYSIAN FOOD I WANT!!!!! No need to worry about what time my match is or anything...=D
I'm really really excited about this trip!
BUT..

have to wake up super super early...the bus will be leaving at 3.30am! So cold..not sure how to get up...=P

Next year..I'm still gonna stay at Wessex Hall. =D
It isn't gonna bother me if everyone stays at Sherfield or wherever. After 1 month, I like Wessex a lot. Imagine after 2 terms...=D

You may not get your own toilet or bathroom, not enough fridge space..but I'm cool with it. =D
My kitchen mates, they're slightly messy, but apart from that, they're a really nice bunch of people. If I were not staying in Wessex, I wouldn't know any 'kwai lo' friends. I now have 8(excluding Khiara..lols). They drink(which Brit doesn't), but at least they don't smoke. =D

We even have Sims of ourselves..lols. Katiy decided to do a Sim for everyone in kitchen 201. I have purple hair. =D
It's great here. =)

Oh..and the people here think that we don't speak English...LOLS!!!

Matthew asked what my 1st language is. I told him English, and he was a bit shocked. He thought there was a Malaysian language. Then I told him Malay is the national language and stuff...then Vanessa(a new girl who moved in not too long ago) and I had this conversation.

Vanessa: Do you live near here?
Me: *I just stared with a big question mark on my face*
V: Do you live near Reading?
Me: Urm..noooope. I'm from Malaysia. *smile*
V: OMG!! That's so far away! I thought you were a local cause you can speak English so well.
Me: Oh...Thank You. *bigger smile*

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I got this compliment from Laura once before.

You know..getting a compliment about your English from an English person, to me, is like Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay or Marco Pierre-White or any other great chef telling you that you can cook like them. =D

Ok..gotta go. =)

Weekend!!!!

WEEE!!!

Weekend is here!! =)
A day when I can wake up late and do nothing...

...

oh..wait..have to do tutorials...haihs...

Got all my books, except 1 statute, so have to start studying.

Haven't been cooking much...will be cooking aglio olio later for dinner. This will only be my third time cooking. This coming from a guy who gave a presentation about food and cooking for legal skills...XD

Cooking, not so convenient. I cannot possibly be going to the supermarket every week to get fresh ingredients, so got quite a few canned and frozen stuff. The 2 fridges are just too small to accommodate 8 people...cause everyone has their own stuff..thus a lot of duplication. But if everyone share stuff like Shaun and Kristine in student village, the fridges will have no space problem. *envy*
Even Shaun has been doing more cooking than I have...LOLS

Oh yeah, Notts Games is on the 31st of October!!! =D
Signed up for badminton. Just thinking about gets me all excited. Can't wait to play badminton and see my old friends who are in the UK!! =D

But have to start removing the rust, if not, no point in me going.
Soooooo.....anybody up for badminton?

Oh..and if anyone has any questions about anything, or if you know any year ones that want to ask questions about UoR, ask me on Facebook..=)

Or you can ask Khiara, Amethyst or Yunrui in December, cause all 3 of them are going back to Malaysia.
Oh and if Justin Michael Liew doesn't read my blog...ask him to stuff himself with chicken rice before he comes...cause I haven't found a a chinese restaurant(plenty of takeaways though) here in Reading..maybe got lar, but it's yet to be discovered. =D

Oh and Mr H is coming next year, anyone know when?

First week of classes.

OM.......G!!!

The walk to lectures....cold as Hell. (XD oxymoron)

The lecturers...boring as Hell. (Land and EU is already hard enough)

The prices of stuff...expensive as Hell. (If you don't convert you'll be fine..=D)

Soo....

WE'RE IN HELL!!

No lar, i'm not in Hell...just wanted to copy Jeff Dunham and Peanut..XD

but...it's seriously getting colder. the lecturers are difficult to understand. and the prices of things are expensive if you convert. =)

All those in Taylors...super lucky.
I miss Taylors. The lectures there are so well planned and organised.

I am sure I'm gonna get responses like "WHAT?!".

I even miss Ms Sunitha! She may have been strict(understatement)...but she is way easier to understand and more direct.

Here they like to give examples..weird examples. Maybe not weird, but different to our ears. AND they tend to move far away from the module during lectures, and then return to the point expecting us to understand what they've just said...=S

Oh yeah, those of you planning to stay at Sherfield or Student Village because you get your own toilet and shower...Good Luck..hehe. ;)

Like this morning. Lectures at Madejski Theatre at 9am. 7 minute walk from Wessex. 40 minute walk from Student Village.
I was about to make myself a Milo at 8.10am, still in pyjamas, Amethyst was already on her way to lectures. Lols! So kesian lar.

I am THE MOST 10 minutes away from every lecture hall, they're AT LEAST 20 minutes away.

Moreover, they have to clean their toilets and shower area. And I heard that Sherfield's drainage system sometimes isn't very good. Leena was saying that Wei Jeat's shower room was flooded one time..and the water wouldn't go away..so the room stank.

My toilet and shower maybe shared..but it's cleaned everyday..=)
And I've never seen anyone in the shower before...it's always dry...=D

One other thing. Shops on Wessex's side have more variety. Perfect Fried Chicken(the chicken is awesome!!). Subway. Domino's. The Three Tuns(it's a pub..quite cheap).

The Sherfield side has Greggs(a nice bakery). Some over priced cafe(ask some of the seniors what they had for their first breakfast..lols) A Posh looking Indian Restaurant.

Kayz...gotta wash up my plate now(just had dinner). =)

Last day of orientation week.

Classes starting next Tuesday. =)
Can't wait to start cause I'm so bored here. It's not like everyone is next door so we can just talk in the kitchen or something...=(
I've been walking for half an hour everyday to Shaun's place...if we were staying nearer to each other..I'll be at his place everyday cooking and eating properly. Like all of them at sherfield or student village got cooking buddies..so nice...

So to all my friends coming next year...stay together alright!! =D

Just came back from the kitchen to eat some fruits for breakfast(didn't feel like drinking Milo or eating anything else). The kitchen was a mess! My dorm mates aren't particular about cleanliness. I've seen them leave their dirty plates all over the place, some pizza slices on the table..BUT...there were those things when I went in...PLUS...glow sticks, glow sticks which have been cut open and all the chemically fluids inside of the sticks are all over the sink. I even saw a pair of high heels and 1 shoe in the kitchen. Wine glasses and shot glasses on the floor, on the tables...

Oh ya, did I mention that my dorm mates who share the kitchen with me are mostly girls!
Maybe they brought some friends over. And they went partying I think, cause they were making quite a lot of noise outside at around 2 am.

Must've been drunk, cause none of them are awake yet, unlike other days when they would be up eating breakfast by 8am.

Apart from everything mentioned above...I'm good. =)
